More than 100 artists have signed an open letter by KNEECAP's record label, Heavenly Recordings, in support of the Belfast trio.

The document, released Thursday, denounces "a clear, concerted attempt to censor and ultimately deplatform (KNEECAP)," and originally included over 40 signatories, with Fontaines D.C., Lankum and Massive Attack among them.

Now, KNEECAP's manager Daniel Lambert has taken to social media to update the letter's signatory list, which now includes the likes of CMAT, Tom Morello and Brian Eno.

"In a democracy, no political figures or political parties should have the right to dictate who does and does not play at music festivals or gigs that will be enjoyed by thousands of people," reads part of the letter.

"The question of not agreeing with Kneecap's political views is irrelevant: it is in the key interests of every artist that all creative expression be protected in a society that values culture, and that this interference campaign is condemned and ridiculed," continues the document.

The letter comes amid criticism received KNEECAP in recent days following their Coachella performance last month.

After the three-piece displayed pro-Palestine messages during their set, footage emerged of two separate KNEECAP gigs. One allegedly featured a band member shouting "Up Hamas, up Hezbollah," while the other video appeared to show a member stating: "The only good Tory is a dead Tory. Kill your local MP."

Although the band released a statement saying that they do not support Hamas and Hezbollah, nor the killing of MPs, they were dropped by several festivals, and British Conservative Party leader Kemi Badenoch called for the band to be prosecuted.

UK counter-terrorism police recently confirmed they will investigate KNEECAP, as they "have determined there are grounds for further investigation into potential offences linked to both videos."

Heavenly Recordings' letter is not the only document released recently in support of KNEECAP.

Damien Dempsey, one of the initial signatories of the label's letter, shared his own separate statement expressing solidarity with the Belfast trio. He commended the "three young peaceful warrior poets" for having the courage to "call out the war criminal Netanyahu and his enablers Donald Trump and Joe Biden."

Irish Artists for Palestine also voiced their support for KNEECAP.

"To artists across the island of Ireland and further afield: whether or not you consider yourself political, the implications of this moment are clear," reads part of their statement. "If Kneecap are stripped of their right to political self-expression, then every artist should take notice, and take it seriously. We must resist."
